Available now

You can already do these things in Stellar Nexus:

  • Singleplayer skirmish — pick a faction, generate a galaxy, play against AI opponents.
  • Hex galaxy exploration — chart nebulae, asteroid fields, ion storms, star systems, and rare wormholes through fog of war.
  • Living deep-space backdrops — drifting nebulae and twinkling, gently glowing starfields bring the galaxy map to life, with a reduced-motion option for comfort.
  • Colony founding — settle habitable systems, balance income and maintenance.
  • Fleet combat — six ship classes with counter relationships; battles resolve over multiple rounds.
  • Tech research — early-tier technology across military, economy, and exploration branches.
  • Four asymmetric factions — Terran Directorate, Nyx Collective, Orion Hegemony, Vanguard Nomads.
  • In-game notifications and event cards — turn events surface as colour-coded toasts, persist in a notification log, and mid-turn anomalies open interactive event cards with multiple choices.

Shipping next

These are the next features queued for release:

  • Async multiplayer (preview) — submit your turn, walk away, come back. Friends-only at first.
  • Polished colony screens — production queues, building chains, garrison defence, happiness modifiers.
  • Tech tree explorer — visualise prerequisites, plan a path, queue research orders.
  • Combat readout — combat log, casualty breakdown, formation previews.
  • Soundtrack and effects — original score and combat sound design.

On the horizon

Beyond the next few releases:

  • Diplomacy — non-aggression pacts, defensive treaties, trade agreements paid in influence.
  • Public ranked multiplayer — matchmaking, ladders, seasonal rewards.
  • Procedural events — anomalies, derelicts, first-contact encounters that branch the campaign.
  • More factions and ships — at least two new factions and a fifth ship class category.
  • Mod support — community-authored factions, tech trees, and balance overrides.
