Stellar Nexus

Faction

Nyx Collective

A shadowy hive-mind civilisation that excels at research and biological adaptation.

Lore

The Collective emerged from a failed AI experiment that fused organic and digital consciousness. They perceive the galaxy as a puzzle to be solved, pursuing knowledge with an unsettling single-mindedness that unnerves their neighbours.

Playstyle

Opener. Nyx starts with a single scout, two starting techs (warp_theory, deep_space_sensors), and a +15% research bonus. Use the sensor advantage to map nebulae and asteroid belts within the first three turns; pick exploration techs aggressively — they’re 15% cheaper for you.

Mid-game. Your tech curve outpaces every other faction. Convert that lead into qualitative fleet superiority: Assault Destroyers and Heavy Cruisers, unlocked earlier than rivals can field them.

Late game. Population growth (+10%) and research compounding turn your colonies into research mega-cities. A Nyx late-game empire is small in count but dense in output. Consider an asymmetric victory — a Tech Singularity win condition, when implemented, will favour you heavily.

Hard against: Orion Hegemony in mid-game; you’re paper to their hammer until your tech advantage matures. Easy against: Terran Directorate in late-game; your tech tier ceiling exceeds their economy.
